Bio-TUNE's research is disseminated at international level

Jul 01, 2024

During the months of May and July, several researchers of the Bio-TUNE have attended international conferences and disseminated results of the project to fellow peers.

Recently, secondees and researchers of the project have disseminated Bio-TUNE's research in important international conferences in the fields of biomaterials and antimicribial sciences.

Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno, PI and secondee from UPC (Spain) and Dr. Nihal Engin Vrana, PI from INSERM and spin-off compnay Spartha Medical (France) attended the 12th World Biomaterials Conference (WBC), held in Deaegu (South Korea) from the 23th to the 30th May, 2024. They offered an Invited Talk and presented two Posters, based on results derived from Bio-TUNE:

  • N.E. Vrana. The Routes of Incorporation of Immunomodulatory Properties for Multifunction Supramolecular Biomaterial-based Systems. Invited Talk.
  • L. Oliver-Cervelló, H. Martin-Gómez, C. Gonzalez-Garcia, E. A. Cavalcanti-Adam, H.-W. Kim, M. Salmeron-Sanchez, M. P. Ginebra, C. Mas-Moruno. Biomimetic multifunctional peptides promote synergistic integrin and growth factor signaling on biomaterials. Poster Presentation.

  • Y. Li, C. Guilbaud-Chéreau, C. Calligaro, N.E. Vrana, P. Lavalle. Antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory coatings: implementation of innovative production tools. Poster Presentation.

  • On the other hand, PhD student and secondee Soraya Alfonsi (UNICAM, Italy) attended the  ASM Microbe, Atlanta (USA), held on June 13th-17th, 2024. She presented a Poster with relevant results of the project, and directly born from her secondment at UPC Perú:
  • S. Alfonsi, R. Spuri, P. Milon, D. Petrelli. Plastics as vehicles for antibiotic resistance genes in a river of Central Italy. Poster Presentation.
