Carles Mas-Moruno receives the Marcial Moreno-Mañas Award 2020

The Catalan Territorial Section (ST-Cat) of the Real Sociedad Española de Química (RSEQ) awarded Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno, Ramón y Cajal Fellow at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and member of the BBT, the Marcial Moreno-Mañas Award 2020 for young researchers.

Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno has been awarded the Marcial Moreno-Mañas 2020 prize for young researchers by the Commission appointed by the Territorial Section of Catalonia (ST-Cat) of the RSEQformed by Dr. Rosario Fernández (University of Seville), Martín Fañanás (University of Santiago de Compostela) and Dr. Rubén Más-Ballesté (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid).

The award recognizes the trajectory of young researchers in Catalonia. Dr. Mas-Moruno, is a Ramón y Cajal Fellow at the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering Research Group (BBT) at UPC, and apart from being Principal Investigator of Bio-TUNE: "Fine tune of cellular behavior: multifunctional materials for medical implants" and of the national project MIMESIS: " Biomimetic multifunctional surfaces: a new biomolecular strategy to control the cellular response in regenerative therapies ". Previously, he won a Marie Curie Career Integration Grant for the Biomat4Biomed project "Development of new biofunctionalized materials for application in regenerative medicine" and two Beatriu de Pinós scholarships (modalities A and B), among others.

Dr. Mas-Moruno received the XV Claustre de Doctors Doctorate Award 2011 from the University of Barcelona for the best Doctoral Thesis presented at the UB in 2009 and has received several distinctions from international scientific societies. He is co-author of more than 50 publications in JRC journals and has participated in numerous international conferences, with 10 invited talks, in the field of peptides and biomaterials.
