Katherine Peñaranda comes back to the University of Camerino for a 3-month secondment

Katherine Peñaranda, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Pohl Milón (Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), Perú) comes back to the University of Camerino (Italy) for a 3-month secondment at Dr. Roberto Spurio's laboratories, to work on research activities of WP3 of the Bio-TUNE project

Katherin Lizet Peñaranda Manrique is an Early-Stage Researcher in UPC (Perú) and has arrived to UNICAM (Italy) for a 3-month secondment. In line with the research activities of WP3 of the project, she is mainly involved in two activities during this time:

a) to apply the SELEX technology to a biofilm matrix composed of cells of Staphylococcus aureus with the aim to select aptamers that can recognize (and interfere with) the biofilm matrix of this bacterial pathogen;
b) to transfer the knowledge of the SELEX technology to UNICAM laboratory and to develop aptamers specific for components of the Staphylococcus aureus translational apparatus.

These activities are part of a composite program of secondments carried out within Bio-TUNE, which started by a secondment in 2022 by Katherin and will continue till 2024.

Katherin Peñaranda's secondment takes place from August 23th to November 21st, 2023.
