LLuis Oliver-Cervelló, Doctor in Materials Science

BBT PhD student Lluis Oliver-Cervelló successfully defended his PhD Thesis on "Novel multifunctional biomimetic peptides for bone tissue engineering" in Barcelona (Spain), on Nov. 3rd, 2022.

BioTUNE's PhD student Lluis Oliver-Cervelló presented his doctoral thesis on "Novel multifunctional biomimetic peptides for bone tissue engineering" (directed by Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno) on November 3rd, with a grade of Excellent at UPC (Barcelona, Spain).

The Tribunal was formed by Dr. Manuel Salmerón-Sánchez (University of Glasgow, UK), Dr. Amaia Cipitria (Biodonostia Health Research Institute, Spain) and la Dr. Ana Vallés (Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain).

During the completion of his doctoral thesis, Dr. Lluis Oliver-Cervelló carried out two research stays, both related to BioTUNE . In 2019, he spent three months with Dr.  Ada Cavalcanti-Adam (Growth Factor Mechanobiology group at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research, Germany) in order to carry out a mechanistic study on peptide molecules and cells. On the other hand, at the beginning of 2022, he made a secondment with Dr. Siti Hawa Ngalim (Universiti Sans Malaysia) in order to delve more deeply into the same topic.
