Roberto Alcántara finishes his 1-month secondment in UNICAM

PhD student Roberto Alcántara (UPC, Perú) has just finished his 1-month secondment in UNICAM (Italy), under the supervision of Dr. Roberto Spurio. This is the third part of a series of split secondments carried out by the ESR throughout the projec.

During this time, Roberto got involved in standardizing a protocol for lysing S. aureus cells. The goal was to enable the assessment of DNA aptamers specific to the ERA GTPase protein in a complex medium like a cellular lysate. Also, he has helped design probes for detecting antibiotic resistance genes in S. aureus.
