Morgane Rabineau from INSERM, seconded in Malaysia for 2 months

Dr. Morgane Rabineau (INSERM, France) is in University Sains Malaysia for a 2-month secondment in collaboration with Dr. Siti Hawa Ngalim and her team.

Dr. Morgane Rabineau (INSERM, France) is in University Sains Malaysia (USM, Malaysia) for a 2-month secondment in collaboration with Dr. Siti Hawa Ngalim and her team.

During her time at USM, she is focusing in the study of the incidence of geometric patterns from a biomaterial on the cell nucleus and more particularly on the chromatin plasticity of macrophages. For this, she is using micropatterns with variable geometric patterns designated by Dr Siti Hawa Ngalim's laboratory. First, on these micropatterns, she compares the chromatin response of M1 and M2 macrophages. Then, she will experimentally modify the chromatin state of macrophages. The findings will provide a better understanding between chromatin remodeling who have an important role to immune system regulation. These research will provide valuable insights for designing biomaterials with adapted properties.

Together with Dr. Siti H. Ngalim and her team, which includes two previous secondees in this project, Sunthara Murthi and Nurul Asykin, Dr. Rabineau, has also been involved in an outreach event called "STEAM & Career Day" to bring awareness on Biomedical Sciences to junior and senior high school students (13-17 year olds) primarily from SMK Bukit Gambir, Penang (Malaysia).

Morgane's secondment goes from the 11st of September to the 10th of November, 2023.
