BioTUNE's ESR Saifuddin Aziz has successfully defended his PhD Thesis "Synthesis of Polyvinyl Alcohol/ Silver Doped Carbonate Hydroxyapatite Composite Nanofibers with Antibacterial Properties against Peri-implantitis and The Study of The Position of Silver in The Nanofiber" and he is now Doctor in Chemistry by Universtias Gadjah Mada (UGM, Indonesia).
Dr. Diego Pallarola (INS-UNSAM, Argentina) is in Barcelona to carry a 1-month secondment at Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno's laboratories (BBT-UPC).
During the months of May and July, several researchers of the Bio-TUNE have attended international conferences and disseminated results of the project to fellow peers.
BioTUNE's ESR David Piñera has successfully defended his PhD Thesis "Development of antibacterial, antiresorptive and osteogenic gallium and silver doped titanium implants", directed by Prof. José-María Manero and Dr. Judith Buxadera, and is officially a Doctor in Biomedical Engineering by Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC, Spain).
Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno (UPC) arrived to Buenos Aires to join Dr. Diego Pallarola’s team (UNSAM, Argentina) for a 1.5-month secondment
Katherine Peñaranda, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Pohl Milón (Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), Perú) is back at the University of Camerino (Italy) for her final 3-month secondment at Dr. Roberto Spurio's laboratories. She has now completed a 12 months split-secondment for the project.
Roberto H. Alcántara, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Pohl Milón (Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), Perú) is back at the University of Camerino (Italy) for his final 3-months secondment at Dr. Roberto Spurio's laboratories. With this last secondment, Roberto has completed a total of 11.03 months of research within our project.
BioTUNE's secondee Xiayi Liu successfully defended her PhD Thesis on "Antimicrobial titanium implants with 2D nanostructured surfaces", co-directed by Professor Bo Su and Dr Angela Nobbs. She is now Doctor of Philosophy by the Faculty of Health Sciences (University of Bristol).
ER (Experienced Researcher) Dian Juliadmi (UGM, Indonesia) joins Prof. Matt Dalby (Centre for the Cellular Microenvironment, Univeristy of Glasgow, UK) for a 3-month secondment in his laboratories.
Dr. Nuzul Ficky Nuswantoro (UGM, Indonesia) has arrived to Barcelona for a 2.8-months secondment at the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering (BBT) research group at UPC (Barcelona), under the supervision of Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno.
